First time seeing a show by Angel Sanchez. Staged at my favorite venue inside the Lincoln center. The acclaimed designer showed his spring 2015 collection on Monday in the Pavilion at Lincoln Center during the official Mercedes Benz Fashion Week.

Bright yellow, pink, blue, mint green and a graphic black and white pattern graced the light and airy silhouettes using fabrics such as organza, chiffon and silk crepe. Sanchez played with neoprene and double faced wool in a nod to his architectural background to form sculptural jackets and dresses.

So in awe of this collection. So many favorites that it's hard to pick just one!
I like the honeycomb fabric. Blue & Yellow is a great color combo.

In all,  a truly beautiful, remarkable collection.
My jaw is on the floor!

Zimmermann Spring 2015 Collection

Nicky Zimmermann, the designer behind Australian brand, Zimmermann, showed at the Pavilion during NYFW.  We saw a mix of romantic-esque, easy-breezy dresses, the occasional power suit along with swimwear and girly frocks. The collection was very different. Not as strong as their Resort 2015 collection. I do have some favorites from spring 2015, and while I appreciate the longer length of dresses that were presented---I do wish we saw more dresses that didn't have to be lined.

The Selena Gomez loving brand attracted the hugest audience at the Pavilion inside the Lincoln Center. So packed that the standing line was so extra close to the runway. They definitely have a booming U.S following. It's great to see unwavering support for upcoming brands!

David Tlale Spring 2015 Collection

Staged at the pavilion, which is my favorite venue inside the Lincoln Center----due to their second row limit, you get a better view than the other venues.

"Feminine Allure" is the title of David Tlale's  spring 2015 collection. Allure is right. I was enticed immediately when seeing Tyson Beckford leading the models behind him down the runway. First, started off with an African centric tribute; "Why give me wings to fly, if you don't want me to use them." was the proceeded message. Out came full skirts and African print fabrics, followed by assorted shades of gorgeous pink and orange clothing materials. The dresses were divine!

Amir Taghi Spring 2015 Collection

On September 6th, I attended Amir Taghi  spring 2015 collection. Amir's first time showing at New York Fashion Week, the runway show was held at Helen Mills Space Theater in Chelsea. I was truly impressed how impeccably tailored the clothes were. Without any knowledge of his prior work, I was stunned & mesmerized at each look walking down the runway.

Inspired by the gentle seduction of his Persian culture and the simple elegance of his female muses, 17 year-old designer Amir Taghi, has presented a collection of unapologetic luxury and sophistication. The self-taught designer opened his first atelier in 2012 in Houston, TX, paying homage to a lineage of fashion clothiers, outfitting an esteemed group of southern socialites and dignitaries.

The designer is only 17. I repeat, 17 years old and designing like a master pro with years of experience under his belt.

Very impressive.  This kid is going to do GREAT and BIG things.  I look forward to his next step.

ODD Spring 2015 Collection

Making my way to Pier 59 studios to attend the ODD spring 2015 collection, I couldn't help, but appreciate the freeing space of the downtown location. Not as cluttered as Uptown, I really like when designers showcased their presentations and runway shows at the Piers (Pier 54 or Pier 59).  Digress aside. From my front row seat, I viewed the 30 looks inspired by the Freudian psychology, Eros. This is my favorite collection from  Judson Harmon. Presenting their usual menswear and women's wear, I love that this season Judson and team incorporated more prints in their tomboy chic collection.  Far superior than last season--for sure.

The bomber jacket  was really popular in this collection and I can see it making a trendy comeback in the fall.

Bibhu Mohapatra: Spring 2013

The inspiration behind the Bibhu Mohapatra Spring 2013 collection was the Luna Moth. They live only for one week giving Bibhu the inspiration of the ” woman constantly evolving.”

His Spring 2013 collection acknowledges the prophetic symbolism of the Luna Moth to celebrate the evolution and transformation of an ever-intuitive Bibhu Woman.

Before the show started, I made my way to my first front row seat, sitting next to uber stylist, Annabel Tollman (RIP). After a few minutes chatting and watching her being interviewed by the  press, the audience quickly settled down once the music started. It was time for the show to began!

A white carbon day dress with morph print side inserts and peplum look kicked of the show followed by many Morph print day, applique, steel, chartreuse, rose lace chiffon and alabaster chiffon dresses. This also included the  Beige Filigree embroidered pixie pants which I loved.

After the show, I had the chance to go backstage and meet with the talented designer. There he discussed more about the Luna Moth and why he is only focusing  on one accessory at a time: Bags. At the show, Bibhu and co-designer, Brancher Emden, debuted the Luna Moth bag on the runway before an upcoming capsule collection.

I had a great time at the show meeting Annabel and Bibhu! I look forward to see what next season has to offer. Until next time!

Parkchoonmoo: Fall 2014

Showcasing at the Pavilion (formerly known as the Box) inside Lincoln Center,  I checked in and proceeded to take my front row seat.   The box was known for presentations, now thanks to the recent changes at the venue, the newly name Pavilion showcased runaway shows. Due to the space, the runway was transformed to a maze. It was cool and interesting to see the clothes coming from many angles.

For her 25th year anniversary designer Demi Park has been inspired by an almost alchemical approach, going back to the very first questioning of  which design is to her personally. The house was founded under the  name De’Moo literally meaning “from zero,” or “out of nothing”. Demi understands ‘Moo’ (nothingness) as unlimited boundaries and beauty, which has come in different shapes and forms now every season for 25 years.

Indeed, every collection has been a direct in-depth examination of the possibilities of design, form and practicality. F/W14 will be a season of re-interpreting her old collections and studies, “going back to the roots”. This collection is speaking of contrasts that combined, neutralize each other: plus and minus equals zero, and out of that nothingness every piece claims its presence.

In keeping with this formula, the designer has been using different iconic fabrics, and shapes out of the Parkchoonmoo DNA to be reassembled in an almost cubistic way: fabrics include alpaca,  lamb leather, beaver, cashmere fused felts, and organic cottons, in the colors that have been most dear to Demi’s heart:  in addition to the ever-predominant navy, black, and white there is a strong presence of camel, hints of carmine red, and a black and big white houndstooth as well as metallic  gold printed  on wool reminiscing her fall 2011 season.

The emerging look is then a result of past seasons key pieces including a range of outwear, long coats, puffy jackets, as well as dresses and jersey turtlenecks being updated and translated into Parkchoonmoo’s cool   modern yet chic look that the designer has been carving out over the past 25 years.

It goes without saying that it is so refreshing to see authentic autumn and winter clothing.  Clothing I can honestly see myself wearing during the cold days.
