Last Friday, I had the honor of being invited to the Google/Netflix WHCD party. A pre-party before the White House Correspondents Dinner on Saturday. Held at the United States Institute of Peace, The star-studded party was attended by the ensemble cast of Scandal, Orange is the New Black, House of Cards and more.

YouTube’s “Kid President” kick off the red carpet party followed by interviews. Guests at the invite only event was so enamored with the red carpet, they stayed until the red carpet was closed off--which I thought was too cute. They rather spend their time taking pics from afar than partying it up downstairs at the main event. On the red carpet I chatted with Uzo Aduba from OITNB where we discussed her love of fashion and the dress she was wearing. Followed by Bellamy Young, who so sweet to a fellow media reporter--being her first time on the red carpet. My favorite part interview highlight was none other than Sakina Jaffrey, who kept it real on the red carpet. I chatted with Sakina the longest (5 minutes) and had a ball laughing it up.
It was great seeing Lupita Nyong'o up close in person. Lupita was radiating all night. Wearing one of my favorites, Bibhu Mohapatra, she dazzles us on the red carpet. I witnessed a very cute moment between her and Steve McQueen. My media peers around me could not contain their excitement for both Scott Foley and Tony Goldwyn from Scandal. Dressed to kill, both men patiently answered each reporter's questions followed by requests for photos.
When it was my turn to chat with Mr. Grant, I quickly had to get a photo (Scandal is an obsession!) Tony could not have been more cool on the red carpet. After, completing mini soundbites and exchanging info with the media crew, it was time to say goodbye. With so many parties and festivities that took place the night before the big dinner, I am grateful that I attended the Google/Netflix pre-party. It truly was a blast!
